Through active M&A and Joint ventures (JV) with global chemical companies,
SK global chemical continues the global expansion.
SK global chemical has been strengthening its competitiveness in the global market through strategic M&As and global partnerships with leading overseas companies. In 2013, we partnered with SINOPEC, China's state-owned petrochemical company, and established Sinopec-SK(Wuhan) Petrochemical, which was the largest joint petrochemical plant in Korea-China history. In 2014, we established Ulsan Aromatics Corporation (UAC) with the collaboration with JXTG, Japan’s No.1 energy company, to produce aromatic products.
In 2015, through partnering with Saudi Arabia’s state-owned petrochemical company SABIC, we established SABIC SK Nexlene Company (SSNC) that produces high-performance polyethylene. In 2017, we acquired the Ethylene Acrylic Acid (EAA) business and Polyvinylidene Chloride (PVDC) business of Dow Chemical, a US chemical company, which enabled us to strengthen our market presence in specialized packaging materials industry. We will continue to grow into a leading global chemical company through strategic M&As and sustainable partnerships with global companies.
